It's been a long day. You're hot, tired, hungry and the last thing needed is one more item added to the pile of negativity that has been your life for the past month. What's that? This isn't you? Yeah...that's because it's me. As I hit the refresh button on my email for the umpteenth time, I see that I still have no new mail. Heat makes things expand right? So why aren't people expanding their workforce to include me?
Yes, this is my problem. I, a recent university graduate, am jobless and on the verge of fixing it by applying to Chic Fil a. Don't get me wrong, a really good friend of mine worked at Chic Fil a, and another at Popeye's. I enjoy food from both. However, I did not go to college to learn to make said food. I went to college to transition to a position that would set me on my career path. But if there are a thousand ways to skin a cat, then it is very possible that food service may be in my near future on the road to achieving my dream. *Sigh*
I simply don't understand why I have to change up the plan. I've conducted countless hours of research, attended seminars, even devoted an entire semester in a job skills class! Why am I coming up short? Admittedly, my cover letters were extremely lacking (because I had never written one before) and I have basically been learning by trial and error up to this point.
Consider this the first part in my job hunting chronicles.
If you, too, are feeling how real the struggle is right now, take a look at the videos below. I hope they help ease the pain. :)
